Summer Camps - Okotoks

OBA SUMMER CAMPS

July Camps:

July 29th-August 2nd, 2024, 9:00am-12:00pm = Ages 9-12 at the Cavalry FC Field House in Aldersyde

Cost: $225

This is a crucial age to get kids excited about basketball and the love of the game.  Players at this age range need to be coached differently than Jr High or High school-aged players.  With OBA’s years of experience running highly successful Fall and Winter programs and the number of parents who have reached out for a summer camp, we are now running camps for this age group.

The younger players will be grouped together and be able to learn from the older players as they have more experience.  There will also be the chance to work with the older players for mentoring opportunities.

Coach to player ratios will be very low.  We feel that players at this age need more attention and specific feedback, so we will make sure to have plenty of coaches on hand to help these younger players.  Drills and skills will focus on game-like activities rather than the traditional ways of running camps.  Research has stated (time and time again) that players learn more through simulated games.  Yes, we will be teaching fundamental skills, but we will be spicing them up so that they are age-specific and age-appropriate.

Players will receive a camp t-shirt at the end of the camp. Click Here to register!

Note:  If your player is 13, they can attend this camp if they are a newer player.  If they have some experience, they should join the Jr. High camp or the camp ages 14-18.

July 29th-August 2nd, 1:00pm-4:00pm = Ages 13-15 at the Cavalry FC Field House in Aldersyde

Cost: $225

Okotoks Basketball Association (OBA) is running a Jr High aged Basketball Camp for athletes going into Gr 7-9.  There are many advantages of running a camp like this.  Some of those advantages include: homogeneous age groupings, confidence levels and skill development.  We allow for movement between groupings on a daily basis so that the athlete can try different age levels without feeling intimidated.

The camp will have many experienced coaches to help players develop their love of the game.  Coach to player ratios will be low to make sure players get the individual attention they need.  OBA is famous for our coaches forming relationships with our campers so that both players and campers are excited to come back year after year.

The camp will focus on the latest concepts of skill development and style of play.  This means OBA has instituted a modern style of play that is supported by Canada Basketball and Alberta Basketball.  The camp will be a mixture of skills, drills and gameplay.

Players will receive a camp t-shirt at the end of the camp. Click Here to register!

Note:  If your player is 13, they can attend this camp if they are an experienced player.  If they are new to basketball, they should join the ages 9-12 camp.
